Andy Acuña started his musical journey at age 7 with a couple of sticks and a tree stump. Those first drum rolls would eventually lead to a boundless love for music that continues to grow to this day. Despite a desire to play the drums in junior high, he took up the trumpet instead by request of his music teacher. This continued throughout high school and into college where he eventually began teaching privately at a local junior high. The drums would only come into the picture after deciding to audition for the world-renowned Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Andy’s focus on the drums quickly grew into an interest in all aspects of music from audio engineering to Brazilian songwriting. It was also during this time in Boston that he began to understand the value of his teaching abilities, teaching a broad variety of music subjects to anyone in need. With each lesson came a better understanding of how to help students receive and retain information based on individual learning styles and personalities. He eventually found himself recording in the Berklee studios and gigging with bands around the Boston area while spending personal time engineering for local artists. Now back in Houston, Andy can be found using his extensive skill set to provide a unique educational experience that focuses on musicianship and awareness at all skill levels.
