Cary Richards is a native Houstonian. In a professional career in Music that has spanned four decades he has plied his craft in Houston, New York, Las Vegas, and Dallas. Music has taken Cary around the world as well on several cruises from Alaska to Tahiti. He had the career first and then returned to college where he graduated with honors earning a BA in Music Education from Tarleton State University in 2015.
His teaching experience from Pre-K to Grade 12 included two years as a Band Director and teaching Elementary Music for Damon ISD, and a year as a Choir Director Edna Junior and Senior High, where three of his choir students earned positions in the All State Choir at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) convention in 2018. Cary decided to concentrate his teaching focus as a private teacher, and he joined the Sessions team in Sugarland in July 2018.
He can teach a wide array of instruments including Brass, Woodwind and Piano and is proficient in Jazz Pedagogy primarily and secondarily Classical Music literature. Cary’s focus for Sessions Music is primarily brass and piano and his students ranger in age from 4 to 67.
