Born in San Antonio, Texas, David Richards has been surrounded by music his whole life. Both of his parents are musically gifted–his father is a professional guitar and producer, and his mother a singer–and, together with the church in which he was raised, they instilled in him a passion for music. When he was 11, his father began teaching him guitar, and throughout High School he played percussion in band, sang in the choir, and taught himself how to play the piano. His first piano composition, written when he was 14, was awarded second place in a National Competition at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At 17, he became a published songwriter when his song “Lost” was featured on the Latin Christian album Days of Elijah (sung by Adrian Brian). After High School, David performed in various High School, College, and Professional musicals, playing bass, drums, guitar, and keyboards. Among the musicals he has played in are Godspell (Cy Falls High School), Love is a Disability (Dionysus Theatre), and Rock Nativity (A.D. Players). He went on to play keyboard in the rock band Zentropy, performing at such venues as Last Concert Cafe in Houston and Float Bar in Galveston, and has also played with singer-songwriter Charles Bryant. He is excited to be part of the Sessions team and sharing his knowledge based on years of experience.
