Born in Texas and raised in Mexico, Salvador Garcia was exposed to different styles of music from a young age. At the age of twelve, Salvador began his studies in music in the Texas public school system as a saxophone player. In high school, he became a self-taught guitarist and featured in local rock as well as mariachi bands.
Salvador continued his music education at Texas A&M University (TAMU), where he studied classical guitar under world renowned guitarist Isaac Bustos. While studying at TAMU, Salvador was considered a representative to the Department of Performance Studies and often performed as an ambassador for the University. Later, Salvador completed a master’s degree in music at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) with an emphasis on guitar performance with classes researching guitar and music theory pedagogy.
As a student, Salvador Garcia performed in master classes for Grammy award winning musicians such as the LA Guitar Quartet and Jason Vieaux; as performer, he has opened up for classical and flamenco guitar virtuosos Jorge Caballero and Grisha Goryachev.
And as a teacher, Salvador has experience teaching students as young as 6 and as old as 70. Salvador has taught in both private and studio settings as well as serving as a substitute teacher at university level guitar classes. His teaching style focuses on getting his students to master the tools needed to learn the music they want to play.
