May must be the month of legends in Houston. Some of the biggest and most influential musicians of recent history are coming through town! Check out which shows you will find us at!
Boz Scaggs is a legend. He was the guitar player and sometime singer for the Steve Miller Band and then launched a very successful solo career. Whether you like blues, rock, or psychedelic, Scaggs has something for you! He will be live in Houston on May 7th.
Sufjan Stevens is often described as the Cat Stevens of his generation and we believe it! Sufjan is an extremely talented songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer (also one of the author’s all time favorites). So if you haven’t listened to him, change that! And see him live in Houston on May 11th.
This prolific singer, songwriter, and performer is a true Texas-legend. Aside from his successful solo career, he has written songs for Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris, and more! Come and see him on May 12th and take part in a Texas music history lesson!
Where would modern music be without John Prine? We don’t know the answer but we don’t want to find out. John Prine is a country/folk legend and widely cited as one of the most influential singer/songwriters of the past 50 years! And you can see him live on May 15th here in Houston!
Talk about a “blast from the past” with this show! The 90’s are invading the Toyota Center and giving the good people of Houston the chance to see New Kids On The Block and TLC live on May 16th! So dig out your parachute pants and flannel shirts, it’s 90’s time!
Built to Spill is an influential indie band with staying power. Their most recent album was their 8th studio release. While never fully “reaching the big time”, this band has cultivated a die-hard following, and rightfully so! Check them out on May 18th and enjoy a night of amazing music!
Runaway Sun is a Houston-based blues rock band that we couldn’t be prouder to admit features Sessions Musics’ own Matt Buehrer on bass. This band is nothing but great guitar riffs, rough rock vocals, and great beats! Do not miss them at Scout Bar on May 23rd.
To quote the Jack Black movie “Saving Silverman”, “Neil Diamond is the greatest singer/songwriter of this, or any generation…”. While we might not go that far, he certainly is a legend and his show is not to be missed! Check him out in Houston on May 26th.
If you haven’t heard of Pat Green, you haven’t been in Texas for very long. This man’s name goes up there with Stevie Ray, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Jeff as the father’s of Texas music and every true Texan needs to see him live! You get your chance on May 29th.
What can we say about George Clinton that hasn’t already been said? The man is THE funk legend. He brings the funk in everything he does from his outfits to his outlandish stage performances. You’ll want to tell your grandkids one day that you got to see the mothership and George Clinton perform! Don’t miss him on May 30th.
