On any given day walking through the Sessions Music Studio in Bellaire you will hear the sounds of a guitar playing, a voice belting out a note, the melody of a piano or a violin in the background, it is the sounds that encompasses the meaning of Sessions Music. The chances that one of the melodies you hear are coming from Willie Arnott is pretty high. Whether he is teaching or practicing, Willie has become a fixture at Sessions Music West University.
Willie Arnott is a man whose music career spans over two decades. Willie a self-taught guitar player, followed his passion in music which led him to obtain two degrees in theory and performance for guitar from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and an audio engineer degree from the Media Tech Institute of Austin, TX. He later went on to spend years in “Music City” Nashville working as an audio engineer for recording studios and playing with different bands such as Sheryl Crow. After his time in Nashville, Willie decided to move back to Texas and made residence in Austin playing gigs with bands in the city and major venues like SXSW (South by Southwest). His experience and passion in the music industry led him to Sessions Music where he can share his passion and knowledge with his students. When asked what makes a guitar player stand out from the rest, he said, “You have to love to practice, it is a skill that you must keep practicing and playing through the pain to achieve the outcome you want to achieve.” There is no question that Willie Arnott’s passion lies in music and creating melodies and songs that people can relate to, help them cope or as a mechanism to cope with stress. Willie states, “Music is my identity I use it to take out frustrations, it’s my coping mechanism but it is also how I have fun.”
