Band Programs At Sessions
The band program is designed to enhance the “standard” model of music education and lessons with a fun, group program. The band program links students with similar interests, skill levels, and ages into bands who meet weekly with a band mentor. This program is open to current Sessions’ students and outside musicians. Band Sessions
Our Band Sessions programs are for students ages 9 and up. These sessions are designed for those who want to break out of private lessons and use their skills in a fun group setting. These students are also ready to focus more on playing in a group and improving their performance skills. Students must have at least 3 months of previous music lessons experience, either with Sessions or elsewhere; if the experience was gained elsewhere, the student must audition for Sessions staff. The Sessions Band Program organizes bands by age, skill level and interests. So you wont be in a band with people of drastically different ages, skills or interests.
Curriculum
Our Band Program features a curriculum that is uniquely tailored to each band. Genre, style, and direction is entirely developed by the band, with the guidance of the instructor. Instructors will mentor the band to better perform as a unit, to develop harmonic and melodic principles, the strengthen performance techniques and to create their own, unique songs. Band Mentors will coordinate with student’s private instructors to build upon current subjects that are being taught.
