Lil’ Rockers
Lil' Rockers At Sessions
The goal of the Lil’ Rockers program is to give students who have little to no experience in music the chance to find their place in the music world. By offering students the chance to engage in guitar (rhythm and bass), drums, piano/keyboards and/or vocal lessons and performances, students can find the instrument or instruments that they feel most comfortable playing and while in the company of students with similar musical interests, capabilities and aspirations. It is broken down into (2) levels, with students starting in Phase I and upon completion, moving into Phase II which takes on each subject learned in Phase II in more depth as well as a few new topics. At the end of each Phase, a performance opportunity will be scheduled to give students a chance to showcase some of what they have learned.
Through one-on-one interaction with a Sessions instructor, and the supervised use of modern technology, students will be given a strong foundation of the components of music:
- Melody
- Harmony
- Rhythm
- Form
- Singing
- Moving
- Listening
- Performing
- Composing and Improvising
- Reading and Writing
This program differs from other Sessions programs in that it does not include private lessons. Through this differentiation, students are given the chance to develop individually but have the moral support of their peers in a group. All students need is a love of music and the desire to learn an instrument.
Who Is Lil’ Rockers For?
Lil’ Rockers is for kids between the ages of 5 and 8 who possess a love of music and a desire to learn how to play the guitar-lessons, piano, drums or to sing, but who are not quite ready to start individual private lessons. This program is designed for two types of students: those who have no experience with any instrument, but have the interest, as well as those who may have some experience on guitar, piano/keyboards, drums or singing but may need to build a more solid foundation before moving on with private lessons.
